The Air Jordan 8 (VIII) Original (OG) Playoffs (Black / True Red / Black) was the last shoe Michael Jordan wore before his first retirement, were released in April, 1993. They feature a black durabuck upper with red and black accents, as well as a very colorful outsole. One of the nicest features of these is actually hard to see, but the shoe ' s inner lining features a vibrant, multi-colored design which is very attractive. These Air Jordan shoes also feature anti-inversion cross straps, poly carbonate torsion plate, air sole, and an inner sleeve similar to the Nike Air Huarache. The point of the inner sleeve was to really have the shoe conform / stick to your foot, similar to Tinker Hatfield ' s intentions with the Air Jordan 7. If you look at the Air Jordan 8 Original model you will notice there is no Nike sign. It was at this point that Tinker felt the Jordan brand was strong enough to stand on its own.
